After Robert Cooper married Irene Williams in 1928, the newlyweds moved into a temporary house o the property and Robert built this house the following year. No doubt the house was occupied by renters for many years after the Coopers left, for it was not until the mid 1950s that Chung Chang assumed ownership.

The architectural style is reminiscent of houses on Delta Manor built about the same time. The clipped or cut-off gable ends and the rounded roof lines suggest an English country cottage, a style of architecture that was very popular in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia in the 1920s. The exterior at least is structurally unchanged except for the addition of a deck at the rear of the house. A close look at the front reveals that the entrance and stairs have been modified and the interesting sidelights accenting the front door have been removed.
