Venanxio Martinolich, a boatbuilder and fisherman, was the original owner and very likely also the builder of this home which dates back to 1905. The Martinolichs' first home was next door at 4456 River Road West. It may be that the Martinolich family outgrew that small house and moved into this larger home, renting out their first home.
Ownership of both these houses was transferred to Antonia Martinolich after her husband's death in 1913. Thereafter they were owned by the next generation of the Martinolich family. One of these was Carolina Radoslovich and it is the Radoslovich name that is most commonly associated with these two houses. Members of that family have lived in both houses into the 1970s.
To add to our knowledge of this community, we should note that Martinovich, like his kinsmen next door, owned two lots on the water side of the dyke in the vicinity of this house. These were the scene of the boatbuilding that took place in the winter months. A holder of master mariner's papers, Martinolich at his death owned "the tugboat B.C. Boy, the gasoline boat B. C. Kid, launched last July, and a number of small fishing boats."
